Pragati Eligibility

• Applicant must be a girl student admitted to the 1st year, or the 2nd year through lateral entry, of a technical degree or diploma programme in the current academic year.
• Admission must be through the centralised admission process of the State or Central Government at an AICTE-approved institute.
• A maximum of two girls per family can receive this scholarship.
• Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹8,00,000 for the preceding financial year (in-laws’ income is considered if the applicant is married).
• Selection is merit-based among eligible applicants, with 15% of seats reserved for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC candidates.

Pragati Scholarship Amount & Seats

Selected students receive ₹50,000 per year for every year of the course, paid as a lump sum toward tuition/college fees, books, a computer or laptop, software, and other academic essentials. AICTE awards roughly 10,000 scholarships a year under Pragati — about 5,000 for degree courses and 5,000 for diploma courses.

AICTE Saksham Scholarship 2026-27

Saksham supports specially-abled students pursuing the same range of AICTE-approved technical courses.

Saksham Eligibility

• Applicant must be a specially-abled student with a disability of 40% or more, certified by a competent medical authority.
• Must be admitted to the 1st year, or 2nd year via lateral entry, of a degree or diploma course at an AICTE-approved institute.
• Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹8,00,000, backed by a valid income certificate from the State/UT government.

Saksham Scholarship Amount & Seats

Like Pragati, selected students under Saksham receive ₹50,000 per year for the full duration of their course. AICTE has not always published one fixed seat count for this scheme — recent cycles have referenced roughly 1,000 scholarships (around 500 degree + 500 diploma), while some official communications note that every applicant who meets the eligibility criteria and clears document verification can be considered. Because of this, it’s worth applying as early as possible rather than waiting near the deadline.

AICTE Swanath Scholarship 2026-27

Swanath is aimed at students from genuinely vulnerable backgrounds rather than a single fixed category.

Swanath Eligibility

A candidate must fall into at least one of these categories:

• Orphan (both parents deceased)
• Either or both parents died due to COVID-19
• Ward of Armed Forces or Central Paramilitary Forces personnel martyred in action (Shaheed)
• Parent suffering from a life-threatening disease (such as cancer), or deceased/severely disabled (above 80%) in an accident

• Must be pursuing a degree (1st–4th year) or diploma (1st–3rd year) at an AICTE-approved institute.
• Annual family income must not exceed ₹8,00,000.
• Not eligible if already receiving another Central/State/AICTE-sponsored scholarship, or if pursuing a postgraduate degree.

Swanath Scholarship Amount & Seats

Swanath also pays ₹50,000 per year, for a maximum of 4 years for degree students and 3 years for diploma students. AICTE awards up to 2,000 scholarships a year under Swanath — 1,000 for degree students and 1,000 for diploma students.

How to Apply for AICTE Scholarship 2026-27 Online

The same National Scholarship Portal is used for all three schemes — only the scheme you select and a few category-specific fields will differ.

1. Complete One Time Registration (OTR). Visit scholarships.gov.in and click “New Registration” if you haven’t registered before. Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and bank account details to generate your OTR ID.
2. Log in to the portal. Use your OTR/Aadhaar number and password to log in as a student for the 2026-27 session.
3. Click “Apply for Scholarship”. Select the current academic year, 2026-27, from the dashboard.
4. Select the correct AICTE scheme. Under Ministry/Department, choose AICTE, then pick Pragati, Saksham, or Swanath, whichever one you actually qualify for.
5. Fill personal, academic and income details. Enter your name, course, institution code, year of study, and family income exactly as shown on your certificates.
6. Complete scheme-specific fields. Saksham applicants enter their disability percentage and certificate number; Swanath applicants select their eligible category (orphan, COVID-19, martyr’s ward, and so on).
7. Upload scanned documents. Attach your income certificate, Aadhaar, category-specific proof, photo/signature, and bonafide certificate in the required format and size.
8. Submit and save your Application ID. Note down or screenshot the confirmation. Your institute will verify the form next, followed by district and state nodal officer verification, before the amount is disbursed via DBT.

How to Check AICTE Scholarship Application Status

Log in to the NSP portal using your OTR credentials and open the “Application Status” or “Track Application” section. Enter your Application ID to see exactly which stage your form is at — institute verification, district verification, state verification, or processed for payment. Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Uploading an old income certificate. It must be from the correct financial year — an outdated one gets your form marked “Defective”.
• Aadhaar not seeded with your bank account. If DBT can’t verify the link, your payment will fail even after approval.
• Name mismatches. Your name should read identically on Aadhaar, marksheet, and bank account — even a spelling difference can cause rejection.
